 If you've seen the "We Want Dave @ the Vogue" posters around town (sample at left) you may be wondering just who is Dave.
The subject of the Vogue poster happens to be world famous recording artist Dave Matthews of the Dave Matthews Band.
Mike Cooney (right), owner of the popular coffee and wine bar in downtown Chelan, knows it's a longshot to get Matthews to perform at his establishment, but that's exactly what he's hoping to accomplish.
In addition to producing the poster, Cooney sent an e-mail to Matthews in early February of this year asking that he consider making a surprise visit to Lake Chelan and in particular to performing at the Vogue.
As an aside in his e-mail, Cooney pointed out that performers at his venue agree to play for tips. Although the invitation may be a bit tongue-in-cheek, Cooney is serious in his desire to entice the Grammy winner to Chelan. Says Cooney, "Dave and I share the three passions of coffee, wine and music".
One thing for certain, Matthews is unlikely to visit Chelan this Spring as he and his band are touring throughout Europe from late March through May. Matthews, a gifted singer, songwriter and guitarist formed the Dave Matthews Band in 1991 in Virginia. The band has produced a number of Gold and multi Platinum albums and for the past several years has performed to sold out crowds over Labor Day Weekend at the Gorge Amphitheatre.
